The Kabul Municipal Zoo in Afghanistan has been devestated by decades of war and neglect. More recently the repressive Taliban regime permitted animals to be slaughtered and eaten. There is little left of the Zoo. Of about 400 resident species only 15 animal species remain.
The animals and zoo need our help...100% of funds raised will be donated directly to the Kabul Zoo for:
IF EVERY CHILD ACROSS AMERICA DONATES JUST $1.00, WE CAN RAISE ENOUGH MONEY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THE ZOO AND ITS ANIMALS AND HELP INSPIRE THE CHILDREN OF AFGHANISTAN

Sadly, Marjan, the blind and crippled lion has come to symbolize the horrible condition of the country of Afghanistan. The Kabul Zoo's innocent creatures have been trapped between the wars and conflicts in Afghanistan and has been reduced to near rubble by the bombings. The Kabul Zoo along with the rest of Afghanistan faces an uncertain future.
Your donations will not only help to pay for food and medicine and to rehabilitate the Zoo but will also give hope to the new generation of Afghanistan...the children. A newly reconstructed and restocked zoo will be a source of hope for not only the children but for everyone in Afghanistan. FOR KIDS UNDER 12: Read on-line, "The Story of Marjan the One-Eyed Lion & Friends" in English or Spanish. This is the amazing story of how a blind lion named Marjan and a crippled boy named Omar together save the animals and the zoo from total destruction...The REAL story is recommended for mature readers.
